BRENDA is a relational database of molecular and metabolic information. It provides researchers of biochemistry and medicine a user-friendly navigation system offering access to a comprehensive summary of enzyme specific data.
The database includes biochemical and molecular information on classification, nomenclature, reaction, specificity, functional parameters, occurrence, enzyme structure, application, engineering, stability, disease, isolation, and preparation. The database also provides additional information on ligands, which function as natural or in vitro substrates/products, inhibitors, activating compounds, cofactors, bound metals, etc.

Access Options
Online
An online subscription provides access to the BRENDA web interface. Online subscriptions are available at the concurrent user and institution-wide level. All subscription levels require username/password authentication.
Installed
An installed subscription allows for local installation of the complete BRENDA relational database and web interface. A local installation allows you to query and extract all fields of BRENDA data for integration into your own, or 3rd party, analysis pipelines and tools. However redistribution of, or public access to / display of, the data is not allowed without prior written consent. Relational download subscriptions are only available at the institution-wide level. MySQL platform is supported.
