Ras-related protein Rab-5A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RAB5A gene.RAB5A localizes to early endosomes where it is involved in the recruitment of RAB7A and the maturation of these compartments to late endosomes. It drives the maturation of endosomes by transporting vacuolar (H+)-ATPases (V-ATPases) from trans-Golgi network to endocytic vesicles.
Human Ras-related protein Rab-5A (RAB5A) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate RAB5A in samples. An antibody specific for RAB5A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyRAB5A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for RAB5A is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of RAB5A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
