Taste receptor type 2 member 20 (TAS2R20) is a member of the taste receptor two family of class C G-protein coupled receptors. Receptors of this family have a short extracellular N-terminus, seven transmembrane helices, three extracellular loops and three intracellular loops, and an intracellular C-terminus. Members of this family are expressed in a subset of taste receptor cells, where they function in bitter taste reception, as well as in non-gustatory cells including those of the brain, reproductive organs, respiratory system, and gastrointestinal system. TAS2R20 maps to the taste receptor gene cluster on chromosome 12p13.
Human Taste receptor type 2 member 20 (TAS2R20) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TAS2R20 in samples. An antibody specific for TAS2R20 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTAS2R20 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TAS2R20 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TAS2R20 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
