SYT4 (Synaptotagmin 4) is a Protein Coding gene. GO annotations related to this gene include calcium ion binding and syntaxin binding. An important paralog of this gene is SYT11. Synaptotagmin 4 may be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles through Ca(2+) and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain or may serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. It plays a role in dendrite formation by melanocytes
Human Synaptotagmin-4 (SYT4) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SYT4 in samples. An antibody specific for SYT4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anySYT4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SYT4 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SYT4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
