Tenascins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins. They are abundant in the extracellular matrix of developing vertebrate embryos and they reappear around healing wounds and in the stroma of some tumors.Tenascin-R is a tenascin gene.Tenascin-R is found in the developing and adult nervous system.Tenascin-R (TNR) is an extracellular matix protein expressed primarily in the central nervous system. It is a member of the tenascin (TN) gene family, which includes at least 3 genes in mammals: TNC (or hexabrachion), TNX (TNXB), and TNR (Erickson, 1993). The genes are expressed in distinct tissues at different times during embryonic development and are present in adult tissues.
Human Tenascin-R (TNR) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TNR in samples. An antibody specific for TNR has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTNR present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TNR is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TNR bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
