Marek's disease is a highly contagious viral neoplastic disease in chickens. It is named after József Marek, a Hungarian veterinarian. Occasionally misdiagnosed as an abtissue pathology it is caused by an alphaherpesvirus known as 'Marek's disease virus' (MDV) or Gallid herpesvirus 2 (GaHV-2).
Chicken Marek's disease virus IgG antibody (MDV-Ab-IgG) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MDV-Ab-IgG in samples. An antibody specific for MDV-Ab-IgG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMDV-Ab-IgG present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MDV-Ab-IgG is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MDV-Ab-IgG bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
