Myosin-Ia (MYO1A) encodes a member of the myosin superfamily. MYO1A represents an unconventional myosin; it should not be confused with the conventional skeletal muscle myosin-1 (MYH1). Unconventional myosins contain the basic domains characteristic of conventional myosins and are further distinguished from class members by their tail domains. They function as actin-based molecular motors. Mutations in MYO1A have been associated with autosomal dominant deafness. Alternatively spliced variants have been found for MYO1A.
Bovine Myosin-Ia (MYO1A) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MYO1A in samples. An antibody specific for MYO1A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMYO1A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MYO1A is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MYO1A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
