This easy-to-use, stand-alone digital camera is designed to output a 2.8-megapixel image at a rate of 25 frames per second. Combined with the imaging chip’s Progressive Scan readout, the DP22 camera delivers a live image that is fast, fluid, and free from distracting artifacts, such as image striping or color ghosting, making day-long routine work more comfortable and efficient. A broad range of scientific and educational applications benefit from the camera’s rapid, real-time live display, stunning color, and crisp detail. Olympus’ color profiling technology has been improved on the DP22. Precise reproduction of fine structures and subtle color differences enables targets on the monitor to be identified with an accuracy equivalent to observation through the oculars, helping ensure professional-looking presentations.

Live Display at 25 Frames per Second

The DP22 camera can display a 2.8-megapixel image at 25 frames per second, surpassing standard full HD parameters without any image compression to preserve the sample’s details. When a user selects a normal full HD live image instead, the frame rate goes up to 30 frames per second for clear live motion images, even on large monitors and projectors.

Extended Movie Recording with Audio

The DP22 camera can record movies up to 30 minutes in length with audio when used with the DP2-SAL. This is ideal for preparing teaching or presentation materials, enabling the audience to be “virtually there” with the presenter while exploring the sample. Short movies with audio are also easy to produce and send via email, giving the recipient a better understanding of the sample context.

Three Color Modes

Three color modes enable the operator to tailor the image to suit the requirements of different applications. By selecting one of the three preset modes, the camera image is automatically adjusted based on the user’s need and the illumination technique used.

High fidelity mode: Reliable color reproduction equivalent to observation through the oculars.
Normal mode: Optimized for a wide range of sample staining, even pale-stained specimens.
Cell culture mode: Dedicated to phase contrast and DIC observations.

White Balance Adjustment

DP series cameras correct the image white point in real-time and provide a colorful image without any color cast. Users can change the sample illumination based on their needs without spending time adjusting the image properties.

Sequential Shooting and Movie Frame Clipping

Thanks to the DP22 camera’s fast frame rate, sharp, clear movies can be captured even when imaging fast-moving subjects. The “Movie Frame Clipping” function enables a user to extract a single high-resolution frame from a recorded movie.

Simple Control Panel

With the optional DP2-SAL controller, the DP22 camera can be operated without a computer and software. The controller connects directly to a monitor and easily interfaces directly on-screen. Frequently used buttons are conveniently placed where they’re easily accessible, and an intuitive layout makes it easy for anyone to operate the camera. In addition, buttons that are used less frequently can be hidden to show the full camera image.

Touch-Screen Monitor for Intuitive Operation

The Olympus DP2-SAL standalone camera controller also supports touch-screen monitors for improved workflow efficiency; users no longer need to look away from the monitor to operate the camera.

Compatible with a Range of External Devices

The USB interface enables the camera to connect with many devices, including an SD card, external hard drive, foot switch and/or a keyboard.
