Japanese encephalitis is a neurologic infection with a broad range of manifestations. It can range from subtle changes in behavior to serious problems, including blindness, ataxia, weakness, and movement disorders. Japanese encephalitis is caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a flavivirus, and is closely related to St. Louis encephalitis and West Nile encephalitis. It occurs primarily in rural areas of Asia . Japanese encephalitis is spread through these regions by bites of culicine mosquitoes, most often Culex tritaeniorhynchus.
Pig Japanese Encephalitis IgG Antibody (JE-Ab-IgG) ELISA Kit employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to JE-Ab-IgG. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated JE-Ab-IgG and incubated. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled JE-Ab-IgG and unlabeled JE-Ab-IgG with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of JE-Ab-IgG in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
