CD20 encodes a member of the membrane-spanning 4A gene family. Members of this nascent protein family are characterized by common structural features and similar intron/exon splice boundaries and display unique expression patterns among hematopoietic cells and nonlymphoid tissues. This gene encodes a B-lymphocyte surface molecule which plays a role in the development and differentiation of B-cells into plasma cells. This family member is localized to 11q12, among a cluster of family members. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants which encode the same protein.
Mouse B-lymphocyte antigen (CD20) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MS4A1 in samples. An antibody specific for MS4A1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMS4A1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MS4A1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MS4A1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
