MINK1 encodes a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the germinal center kinase (GCK) family. The protein is structurally similar to the kinases that are related to NIK and may belong to a distinct subfamily of NIK-related kinases within the GCK family. Studies of the mouse homolog indicate an up-regulation of expression in the course of postnatal mouse cerebral development and activation of the cJun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and the p38 pathways.
Mouse Misshapen-like kinase 1 (MINK1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MINK1 in samples. An antibody specific for MINK1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMINK1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MINK1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MINK1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
