The real-life case study presented evaluates options for rapid deployment of new biologics capacity; options include re-purposing of existing fermenters, construction of new conventional bioreactors and deployment of available single-use bioreactor technology. Modification of the existing fermenter was elected and accomplished with a significant reduction in project cycle time and cost (> $10MM savings).
