Chromatrap^®’s ChIP Validated Sin3a Antibody and Positive Primer Set provides a complete set of tools to assist with a successful ChIP assay. Including: Sin3a antibody, control sheep IgG, and a positive primer set. The ChIP Validated Sin3a Antibody and Positive Primer Set is not suitable for use with non-human species.

Background:
Sin3a (Switch independent 3 homologue) is a transcriptional repressor and protein-encoding gene. It interacts with co-repressors and DNA-binding proteins such as REST, MXl1 and MXD1-MAX that allow Sin3a to bind to DNA and repress transcriptional activity. It acts interdependently with OGT (O-linked N-acetylglucosamine) to repress transcription alongside with histone deacetylation.

A sheep IgG is included in this Antibody Primer Set as a negative control for the ChIP experiment.

The Sin3a positive primer set recognises the hypermethylated promoter of a gene that binds to Sin3a, resulting in the repression of transcription.
