Myotubularin-related protein 2 (MTMR2) is a member of the myotubularin family of phosphoinositide lipid phosphatases. MTMR2 possesses phosphatase activity towards phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate. Mutations in this gene are a cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4B, an autosomal recessive demyelinating neuropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been found for MTMR2.
Chicken Myotubularin-related protein 2 (MTMR2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MTMR2 in samples. An antibody specific for MTMR2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMTMR2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MTMR2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MTMR2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
