TGFBR2 encodes a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and the TGFB receptor subfamily. TGF-beta receptor type-2 is a transmembrane protein that has a protein kinase domain, forms a heterodimeric complex with another receptor protein, and binds TGF-beta. This receptor/ligand complex phosphorylates proteins, which then enter the nucleus and regulate the transcription of a subset of genes related to cell proliferation. Mutations in TGFBR2 have been associated with Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Deitz Aortic Aneurysm Syndrome, and the development of various types of tumors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized.
Chicken TGF-beta receptor type-2 (TGFBR2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TGFBR2 in samples. An antibody specific for TGFBR2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTGFBR2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TGFBR2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TGFBR2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
