Cytochrome P450 2E1 (abbreviated CYP2E1, EC 1.14.13.n7) is a member of the cytochrome P450 mixed-function oxidase system, which is involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics in the body. This class of enzymes is divided up into a number of subcategories, including CYP1, CYP2, and CYP3, which as a group are largely responsible for the breakdown of foreign compounds in mammals.
Canine Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CYP2E1 in samples. An antibody specific for CYP2E1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCYP2E1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CYP2E1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CYP2E1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
