Cytochrome b5 reductase 4 (CYB5R4) protein is a NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase involved in endoplasmic reticulum stress response pathway. Plays a critical role in protecting pancreatic beta-cells against oxidant stress, possibly by protecting the cell from excess buildup of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This protein acts as an enzyme. It is known to catalyze the following reaction : NADH + 2 ferricytochrome b5 = NAD(+) + H(+) + 2 ferrocytochrome b5.
Bovine Cytochrome b5 reductase 4 (CYB5R4) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CYB5R4 in samples. An antibody specific for CYB5R4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCYB5R4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CYB5R4 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CYB5R4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
