Derlin-1 (DERL1) is a member of the derlin family. Members of this family participate in the ER-associated degradation response and retrotranslocate misfolded or unfolded proteins from the ER lumen to the cytosol for proteasomal degradation. This protein recognizes substrate in the ER and works in a complex to retrotranslocate it across the ER membrane into the cytosol. This protein may select cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator protein (CFTR) for degradation as well as unfolded proteins in Alzheimer's disease.
Bovine Derlin-1 (DERL1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DERL1 in samples. An antibody specific for DERL1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDERL1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for DERL1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of DERL1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
