However it is sometimes unavoidable that the detector becomes contaminated, and in these circumstances it will need to be refurbished. Because of the radioactive source, this process must be in trusted to qualified personal in a registered laboratory.

Once we received your detector, it is then stripped down and the old radioactive foil is then disposed of. The body is then cleaned with acetone and methanol, the collector is then cleaned with abrasive and methanol. A brand new foil is then installed and the detector is fully reassembled, this is then wipe tested and returned to the customer with a new certificate.
