Analysis of Natural Gas and the calculation of its Calorific Value are important factors for both consumers and energy producers. Cambridge Scientific Instruments can offer a range of systems for Natural Gas analysis that are based upon ISO and ASTM methods. Components analysed by the systems include:

Optional analysis for the presence of O2 can also be performed, this is a contaminant that can be introduced to the Natural Gas by poor sampling technique.
Systems can be configured to meet the customer's exact requirements. Instruments can be configured for either bench top use or for mounting in a 19" rack, and can also be installed online if required, in a laboratory environment. All Natural Gas analysers are fitted with a TCD, an additional FID can also be fitted for greater sensitivity of hydrocarbons. Sample injection and column switching are operated by automatic switching valves. Analysis is typically run on packed columns, however optional capillary columns can be added for greater separation of components up to C10. All systems are completely configured and tested with synthetic gas samples.
At the end of each analysis, the included Clarity software from DataApex will automatically analyse the results and calculate the Calorific Value for the sample. This gives the user, the mean molecular weight, the relative density, the density, the superior Calorific Value, the inferior Calorific Value and the Wobbe index.
