TAS2R13 product belongs to the family of candidate taste receptors that are members of the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily. These proteins are specifically expressed in the taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate epithelia. They are organized in the genome in clusters and are genetically linked to loci that influence bitter perception in mice and humans. In functional expression studies, they respond to bitter tastants. TAS2R13 maps to the taste receptor gene cluster on chromosome 12p13.
Mouse Taste receptor type 2 member 13 (TAS2R13) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate TAS2R13 in samples. An antibody specific for TAS2R13 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyTAS2R13 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for TAS2R13 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of TAS2R13 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
